Paris by night is a different city from Paris by day — quieter in some ways, more intimate in others, and possessed of a late-night culture that feels genuinely Parisian in its combination of elegance and relaxed intensity. The best of Paris nightlife is concentrated in a few key areas: the 11th arrondissement (Bastille and Oberkampf) is the unofficial capital of Parisian bar culture, with dozens of wine bars, cocktail bars and music venues packed into a vibrant neighbourhood grid. Le Marais offers a more mixed crowd and some of Paris's best LGBTQ+ venues. Pigalle — once notorious, now fashionable — hosts some of the city's best cocktail bars. For clubbing, the Paris electronic scene is centred on Concrete (on a barge near Gare de Lyon), Rex Club, and the more experimental venues of the 13th arrondissement.

Most Parisian bars stay open until 2am. Clubs typically run until 5-6am. Unlike some European cities, Paris doesn't have a fixed closing time — individual venues decide their own hours.
